Overview

The aim of the Master of Medicine (FM) is to train an echelon of family physicians who will be on par with the hospital specialists and be able to take on the role of leaders, trainers, and administrators in family medicine development.

The Master of Medicine (FM) was started in 1992 for doctors working in the Ministry of Health who are in a three-year vocational training programme with the objective of providing such doctors with a broad base of multidisciplinary core knowledge and practical skills.

As the times goes by, the Master of Medicine (FM) evolved itself to fill the needs of doctors with different set of qualifications and needs.

 

Programme A

Programme A is for applicants who are fully or conditionally registered with Singapore Medical Council (SMC) and are awarded sponsorship by the health clusters after choosing Family Medicine as the specialty.

The New syllabus from May 2007 features more posting for trainees to gain wider exposure to various specialties to help the family physician


Programme B

Programme B is for applicants who are doctors with a recognised 2 years post-graduate qualification in Family Medicine and significant years of experiences and who wish to extend his / her knowledge.
