SGiMED
SGiMED Hummingbird CMS was established in 2014 and is currently headquartered in Singapore. SGiMED has performed well in our Cycle 3 survey and tied with fellow HSG-compatible CMS Plato in first place. For the Cycle 3 survey, SGiMED garnered a respectable overall rating of 3.5 stars out of 5 stars among respondents. SGiMED achieved favorable ratings in the areas of Usability, Comprehensiveness, Reliability, Accuracy and Customer Support. Our reviewers are of the view that SGiMED is a user-friendly CMS with a wide range of functionalities and considered good value for money. SGiMED’s dashboard and user interface are modern-looking and relatively easy for beginners to pick up at a fast pace.
CEG and Annual Service Fee (ASF) Report Card
SGiMED Hummingbird CMS like the other top 5 HSG-compatible CMSes have multiple users who reported lower than expected disbursement in the variable component of ASF in the first / initial Interim Payment Advice released in January 2025. 14.3% of users rated 2 or less stars when surveyed on the completeness of the HSG Care Report generated by the CMS in helping them claim for the ASF and incentives.
One of the issues highlighted by our reviewers is that the design on how users are expected to indicate outcomes for Screen for Life (SFL) results can be further improved. The present design may lead to some users to mistakenly indicate outcomes in the “follow-up” field instead of the “initial screen” field for SFL outcomes. Like other HSG-compatible CMSes, it would be recommended that users actively reach out to their CMS vendor to have better understanding of how to submit the key data tied to CEG and ASF with the aim to achieve a better outcome for next year’s CEG and ASF.
HSG-related Functionalities – Old and New
HSG-related functionalities are generally well-designed and integrate well with most clinics’ workflows. Pre-existing HSG functionalities such as price comparison for CHAS Chronic Tier and HSG Chronic Tier, automated calculations of CHAS bill sizes, remote drug ordering, tracking of medication delivery status and price caps on whitelisted drugs continue to function well. In terms of the new version functionalities, the launch of the new version of the Health Plan was generally smooth and users did not experience any major technical issues (except for the inability to copy over free text information from older Health Plans, which is a universal issue for all CMSes). 52.8% of users rated the comprehensiveness of SGiMED’s HSG Health Plan module as 4 or 5 stars. However, there was feedback that the new Patient Care Summary (PCS) field was too large and made it difficult for users to concurrently work on their CMS while viewing the PCS. This largely limited the utility of PCS in day-to-day clinic operations.
Perennial Areas which Users are Interested In
During the initial launch of HSG, users noted multiple updates which occasionally led to service disruptions. Over the period of Cycle 3, these incidents have decreased significantly with no major prolonged down times reported by our reviewers. 52.8% of users rated SGiMed’s stability as 4 or 5 stars during this period. There were isolated incidents of downtime, but these were subsequently found to be due to local user issues such as issues relating to the user’s personal computers or internet connection (i.e. unrelated to the CMS itself and not experienced by other users concurrently). SGiMED’s updates and system changes are notified to users when they first log-in, our reviewers would like to advise fellow users not to rush to click away from the update logs while starting their clinic sessions to stay informed of the new system changes.
Laboratory integration was smooth with accurate data flows. Users did not report any major issues for data contribution to NEHR. Customer support was also rated as favorable with good responsiveness, with 52.8% of users rating the speed of SGiMED in responding to technical issues as 4 or 5 stars. 58.9% of users also rated SGiMED’s ability to satisfactorily resolve technical issues as 4 or 5 stars.
Integration with selected Third-Party Administrator (TPA) / Insurance systems may pose some issues and users are advised to reach out to SGiMED for assistance if they encounter any difficulties with claims from TPAs.
Summary
In summary, across the CMS Sutra cycles, SGiMED has generally maintained stable ratings indicating that the team has been consistently working to stabilize and improve their system. SGiMED has one of the widest range of functionalities among the Top 5 CMSes and is generally considered good value for money by our reviewers. To explore this impressive array of useful functionalities (some of which average users may not be aware of), users are encouraged to contact their CMS vendors for more information. Lastly, some PCNs have set-up WhatsApp chat groups with fellow SGiMED users as a form of peer support. Users are strongly encouraged to join such chat groups for real-time updates on tips and hacks.
